Education New LIfe's children ministries are implemented by the Christian Education Director and the Christian Education Committee. Children are always welcome in our worship service and may stay for the full service any Sunday. We do offer a weekly church school program which begins each Sunday morning at 10:15 am immediately following the children's message. Our mission can be summarized by the statement: "Know, Grow, Go," where we learn our the stories of our faith, relate them to our lives, and take them out to the world in our mission projects. We offer Sunday morning church school classes for four age groups during the program year, which runs from September to early June: 1. Infants and Toddlers (0-3 years) You will notice that each broadly graded classroom has overlapping age groups. Parents are welcome to place their children in the class level they feel will best suit their needs. Childcare is provided during worship by parents and other caring adults for our infants and toddlers. The Young Learners and Multi-Age classes use the BibleQuest curriculum. We have organized it around broad themes, entitled "By the Waters" for 2007-8. We make use of many ways of learning, through stories, crafts, drama, cooking, and art. There is a strong three-fold emphasis in this curriculum on Worship, Learning and Mission. The youth class is held about every other week. This year we have been using the Nooma videos as resources for understanding the Bible and relating it to our lives. Our teens often have the opportunity to assist with the younger classes. Periodically a Disciples Class is held for high school age youth who wish to explore their faith commitment more deeply in small groups and with a mentor. We encourage the development of worship skills so that children feel included and welcome in worship. One Sunday of each month (September - June) is designated "Family Sunday" and children in grades 1 and up stay and worship with their families rather than be dismissed to Church school classes. Childcare is offered for younger children, and older children are offered "clipboards" with resources and activities designed to help them connect with the worship service. There are activities for youth (Grades 6 and up) held about once a month, including discussions, movie nights, outings and retreats. We partner with a number of other Presbyterian congregations to offer a variety of programs for youth. Christian
